Construction -
• Sub floor is made out of 3/4 plywood
• Joists are made out of treated 2x8
• Three 2x8 skids to slide the hot tub on a Rollback truck or trailer for portability
• We figured with the weight, we would place them 12" apart. Joist code is 16" apart from each other,
• Interior/exterior walls are made of 2x6 studs, wrapped with 1/2 plywood for exterior and interior
• Ceiling is constructed out of 1/2 plywood inside and 2x6 rafters
• Roof is constructed out of Ondura red corrugated roof panels sealed with Kool Seal
• Door is metal
-
Steps - The frame is made from treated 2x4 and resting on PVC pipe, for easy drying. The steps are made from Trex® deck boards. The handrails are made from 2" galvanized steel.
-
Insulation - Home Code requires at least R-13 on walls, we installed R-30 in all walls. Home Code requires R-30 for roof, we installed R-60 in all of roof. This help with noise emissions as well as being super insulated.
-

-

• 3 interior bottom outlets
• 2 interior top outlets

• 1 - controls all the outlets and ventilation fan
• 1 - controls the wall mounted A/C unit
-
Flooring -
• Constructed out of 3/4 treated plywood.
• Painted on top for water barrier.
• Oatley 40mill think gray PVC shower pan liner on 1/3 of the floor where the steps are to get in/out of the hot tub for added water barrier.
• Black exterior carpet
-
Walls and Ceiling - They are all covered in corrugated foam for noise dampening. They are also painted black. When we created this room, it had black painted walls. Due to the echo factor of the flat walls, we had to install the corrugated foam for noise dampening. Not only did this help out with the quality of sound (like in a recording studio), but it also helped keep the sound from resonating outside and bothering neighbors. Unless you live in the country with lots of space, people and music will make too much noise at night and you will disturb the peace. Not with this unit!
-
Storage Nook - Where do you place the 2 piece cover for the hot tub? Well, we added a storage nook to store it totally out of the way. Therefore, no floor space is lost in the hot tub room
-
Ventilation - We added two top vents to outside with a single ventilation fan to ventilate the room and keep it dry
-
Trim - Added trim work for a pleasant look
-
Skids - Due to the fact we knew we would be moving this room, we placed skids underneath which can be pulled onto a flatbed tow truck for easy moving. We figured we would be moving some day and we are taking it with us.
-
Utility Cabinet - A simple plastic utility cabinet to hold towels, chemicals, and supplies.

This spa can be connected to cable or satellite TV, internet, and it also has Sirius capabilities. It plays DVD, MP3, WMA, CD, and much more. This "Vacation at Home" is truly that. You can spend thousands on a nice getaway for a week and have memories, but you can have this setup and enjoy it every day. No matter if it is 30° outside or 101°, it is totally enclosed. So, you can create your own environment - heat, cool, wind, light, dark, black light, and any combination. The A/C unit cools down the room completely chilly in about 1/2 hour. We also love the Noise Dampening feature this room has. We can: turn up the music, talk loud, and watch movies or music videos (my favorite) at 11:00pm or later at night and you don't have to bother the neighbors at all. We know you will enjoy this setup, and we hate to part with it.
As long as this room is not attached to the home, it will not increase your home's taxes. It can be declared as a medical expense as long your doctor states that you would benefit from hydro therapy or a spa/hot tub.
